FitLinxx Takes The Guesswork Out of Getting in Shape
October 08, 2012 by Sallie Barker
The Wellness Center is pleased to introduce: FitLinxx. FitLinxx is a computerized fitness network system designed to help you stay motivated and get results. And, it is available to all members at no additional charge.
FitLinxx is a computer program that coaches users through their workout for better safety and form during every exercise. The computer tracks your progress and keeps a log of all exercises completed including repetitions, sets, and weight lifted for each exercise.
An appointment with a Wellness Center trainer is the first step. Once your customized exercise program—determined by your current fitness level and your fitness goals for the future—are developed, they are programmed into FitLinxx.
On your next visit, you simply sign in with your personal identification number (PIN) at the user-friendly touch screen of the FitLinxx kiosk. This check-in sets up the machines for your workout that day. At each weight machine as you make the circuit, FitLinxx tells you what to do in terms of weights, repetitions, sets and range of motion. At each piece of equipment in the exercise circuit, FitLinxx records and logs a record of your efforts.
The Wellness Center staff regularly reviews the progress of their FitLinxx participants, and if they see that you’ve reached a plateau, they will take the initiative and suggest a change in regimen to get you advancing again.
Not just a for the gym, if you are not using a FitLinxx-Powered Machine, you can manually enter your workout, including activities that do not include machines located in the facility like walking, running, bicycling, hiking, sailing, climbing, yoga, aqua aerobics, and much more.
Once you are entered into the system, you can set up an account at www.fitlinxx.com to further track your progress. Your workout sessions are uploaded to the website for your review. You will also be emailed monthly summaries from FitLinxx.
FitLinxx is just one aspect of improvements at the Wellness Center. The KidZone is improved with Wii Fit and homework helpers; the locker rooms are refurbished; and the pools are now saline mineral pools, which feel much better than the chlorine pools.
The Wellness Center is offering a $35 initiation fee, for a limited time only. A weeklong community open house is planned for October 22 -26. Stop in and see what all the buzz is about at the Wellness Center.
