Upson Welcomes Cassie Davis, NP

Apr 12, 2012 by Sallie Barker

Upson Family Physicians in Thomaston has added Cassie Davis as a family nurse practitioner.

Davis, 34, earned her masters degree as a family nurse practitioner in December from Kennesaw State University and passed her boards in January. She was immediately hired out of school by Upson Regional Medical Center to join the practice of Upson Family Physicians and Dr. John Jenkins to complement the staff there.

Davis completed a significant part of her clinical rotations with Dr. Jenkins. She said she always thought she’d wind up working with a specialist but learned that she loved family practice while doing clinical work.

“I am very excited to begin seeing patents,” said Davis. “Dr. Jenkins is one of the best physicians I’ve ever worked with and I am eager to begin helping people find solutions to their medical problems.”

Jenkins said he’s glad to have Davis on board.

“She’s an outstanding medical provider and has some of the best instincts in treatment I’ve ever seen,” said Jenkins. “Our patients will love her.”

Upson Family Physicians is a family practice that sees a wide variety of patients, from newborns to age 102, with any kind of issues.

David Castleberry, CEO of Upson Regional Medical Center, said they were happy to have Davis join their team. “We have been eagerly anticipating Cassie joining our team since she performed clinical rotations here. During that time, it was clear to both Dr. Jenkins and his staff that she would be a great addition to the practice and a great asset to their patients. Cassie’s clinical skill is exceptionally good, and her compassionate manner really puts patients at ease. I am so glad she is here, and I look forward to seeing the difference she makes in the lives of her patients.”

Davis has 13 years of experience as a registered nurse with significant experience in the emergency room and operating room. For three years she was the director of the operating room at Monroe County Hospital until she returned to school.

Davis earned a B.S. in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia campus in Athens in 1999 and attended the University of Georgia in 1996-97.

She and her husband, Will, have two children, Abbie, 10, and Park, 7 and live in Forsyth. Upson Family Physicians is located at 612 W Gordon St in Thomaston. To schedule an appointment, call (706) 647-7009.
